About Me

I grew up in Vermont as a kid, but by the time I was in high school, I was living in Florida. I came to Indiana for college, and studied Civil Engineering, and never really left the Midwest after that. I've lived in Indiana for almost all of the last 13 years. My husband and I have two children, and we live in a residential subdivision on 0.3 acres. Our backyard isn't very big, but we're slowly trying to use it as efficiently and responsibly as possible, and this new hobby is our next step.

My Dad keeps bees, and his Dad kept bees before him. Beekeeping is practically in my blood, and it feels like I'm carrying on some sort of family legacy to start a beehive in my backyard. I'm new to the task of authoring a blog, though, so please be patient with me for a bit.

I learn best by doing a task while someone stands over me to offer corrections as needed, but for the most part that isn't possible for this hobby, since I live in Indiana, and my Dad, who has taught me all I know so far, lives in Vermont. So I call him often with questions, and he offers support as much as possible.

Whether you are a close friend, or a complete stranger, I hope you take away something from this blog, be it general knowledge about the importance of bees or something more specific. Follow along as I post my experiences, as well as random facts and information about bees. And if you've got questions, or want me to cover a specific topic in a blog post, feel free to comment or send me an e-mail at bee_mom2007@yahoo.com. I'd be happy to help you any way I can. Thanks for stopping by :)
